On August 12, 2026, Premier League (EPL) club Aston Villa and Ligue 1’s Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will compete in the 2026 UEFA Super Cup, which will take place at Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria.
The UEFA Super Cup is a one-match competition between the reigning winners of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) and the UEFA Europa League (UEL). Last season, PSG won consecutive UCL titles with a win on penalties against EPL club Arsenal FC after drawing 1-1 after extra-time. Keys to the Game
To win this match — and obtain a second trophy — in less than three months, Villa will have to count on Unai Emery’s compact playing style, consisting of a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 formation. With short passing and defensive astuteness, The Villains may have a chance to suffocate a dynamic and skillful PSG squad. With Rogers sold on a club-record fee, fellow forward Jamie McGinn is their best chance at creating offensive chances. Newly signed Swiss international Johan Manzambi will help strengthen the midfield and, if he can replicate his World Cup performances, may be able to break Les Parisiens’ backline.
