2025-26 Premier League Club Previews: Part 3

Ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League (EPL) season, we created a preview of all 20 EPL clubs, including the three clubs that were promoted from the EFL Championship in 2024-25: league winners Leeds United; league runners-up Burnley FC and Promotion Playoffs winners Sunderland AFC.

These EPL club previews include text and posters detailing a short biography of the club — including the club’s stadium, its capacity, the manager and the number of EPL titles won — and the summer 2025 transfers: both incoming and outgoing players. The transfers section excludes the following:

  • players who returned to their parent club from a loan stint;

  • players whose contracts expired after June 2025; and

  • players who signed with a club’s first team after graduating from that club’s academy or from that club’s reserve team.

This collection of articles is divided into four parts. Each part includes five clubs listed in alphabetical order. Part 3 consists of previews for the following EPL clubs:

  • defending EFL Championship winners, and newly promoted, Leeds United;

  • defending EPL winners Liverpool FC;

  • Manchester City;

  • Manchester United; and

  • Newcastle United.

Leeds United

Notes:

  • Leeds have signed midfielder Sam Chambers from their academy.

  • The contracts of midfielders Patrick Bamford and Joshua Guilavogui expired as the end of June 2025; both players remain free agents.

Transfer Update

Since August 13, Leeds signed three additional players and sold or loaned four additional players.

Burnley’s three additional signings are:

  • DF, James Justin (€9.3 million from Leicester City);

  • FW, Dominic Calvert-Lewin (free transfer from Everton FC); and

  • FW, Noah Okafor (€19.0 million from AC Milan).

Burnley’s four additional sales and loans are:

  • DF, Isaac Schmidt (one-year loan to Werder Bremen);

  • MF, Sam Greenwood (€2.0 million to Pogon Szczecin, Poland);

  • MF, Dario Gyabi (free transfer to Hull City); and

  • FW, Largie Ramazani (one-year loan to Valencia CF).


Liverpool FC

Note: Liverpool have signed midfielder Trey Nyoni from their reserve team.

Transfer Update

Since August 13, Liverpool signed two additional players and sold or loaned three additional players.

Liverpool’s two additional signings are:

  • DF, Giovanni Leoni (€31.0 million from Parma); and

  • FW, Alexander Isak (€145.0 million from Newcastle United).

Liverpool’s three additional sales and loans are:

  • DF, Konstantinos Tsimikas (one-year loan to AS Roma);

  • MF, Harvey Elliott (one-year loan to Aston Villa); and

  • FW, Ben Doak (€23.2 million to AFC Bournemouth).


Manchester City

Note: The contract of goalkeeper Scott Carson expired at the end of June 2025; he remains a free agent.

Transfer Update

Since August 13, Manchester City signed one additional player and sold or loaned eight additional players.

Manchester City’s one additional signing is GK, Gianluigi Donnarumma (€30.0 million from Paris Saint-Germain).

Manchester City’s eight additional sales and loans are:

  • GK, Ederson (€11.0 million to Fenerbahce);

  • DF, Manuel Akanji (one-year loan to Inter Milan);

  • DF, Issa Kaboré (one-year loan to Wrexham AFC);

  • DF, Josh Wilson-Esbrand (one-year loan to Radomiak Radom, Poland);

  • MF, Claudio Echeverri (one-year loan to Bayer Leverkusen);

  • MF, Ilkay Gündogan (free transfer to Galatasaray);

  • MF, James McAtee (€25.5 million to Nottingham Forest); and

  • MF, Sverre Nypan (one-year loan to Middlesborough FC).


Manchester United

Notes:

  • Manchester United have signed defender Tyler Fredricson and forward Chido Obi from their reserve team and academy, respectively.

  • Defender Jonny Evans retired at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Transfer Update

Since August 24, Manchester United signed one additional player and sold or loaned nine additional players.

Manchester United’s one additional signing is GK, Senne Lammens (€21.0 million from Royal Antwerp).

Manchester United’s nine additional sales and loans are:

  • GK, André Onana (one-year loan to Trabzonspor);

  • DF, Harry Amass (one-year loan to Sheffield Wednesday);

  • DF, Victor Lindelöf (free transfer to Aston Villa);

  • MF, Toby Collyer (one-year loan to West Bromwich Albion);

  • MF, Christian Eriksen (free transfer to VfL Wolfsburg);

  • FW, Antony (€22.0 million to Real Betis);

  • FW, Alejandro Garnacho (€46.2 million to Chelsea FC);

  • FW, Rasmus Højlund (one-year loan to SSC Napoli); and

  • FW, Jadon Sancho (one-year loan to Aston Villa).


Newcastle United

Note: The contract of defender Jamal Lewis expired at the end of June 2025; he remains a free agent.

Transfer Update

Since August 24, Newcastle signed three additional players and sold or loaned four additional players.

Newcastle’s three additional signings are:

  • MF, Jacob Ramsey (€45.2 million from Aston Villa);

  • FW, Yoane Weissa (€57.7 million from Brentford FC); and

  • FW, Nick Woltemade (€75.0 million from VfB Stuttgart).

Newcastle’s four additional sales and loans are:

  • DF, Matt Targett (one-year loan to Middlesborough FC);

  • MF, Isaac Hayden (free transfer to Queen’s Park Rangers);

  • MF, Joe White (one-year loan to Leyton Orient); and

  • FW, Alexander Isak (€145.0 million to Liverpool FC).
