With the 2025-26 season in Europe more than halfway complete, a number of managers have been relieved of their duties, with some of them finding new managerial jobs at other clubs. These managers include the following:
Nuno Espírito Santo, who was sacked by Premier League (EPL) club Nottingham Forest (Premier League/EPL) and was later hired by league rivals West Ham United, which had just sacked Graham Potter;
José “The Special One” Mourinho, who was sacked by Turkish Süper Lig club Fenerbahce and was then hired by Primeira Liga club SL Benfica;
Igor Tudor, who was sacked by Serie A club Juventus FC and was later hired as interim manager by EPL club Tottenham Hotspur, which had just sacked Thomas Franck; and
Habib Beye, who was sacked by Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais and was then hired by league rivals Olympique de Marseille, which had just sacked Roberto De Zerbi.
Moreover, several high-profile managers have been relieved from their duties and have not been re-hired by another club. These managers, and their sackings in 2025-26, include:
Ivan Jurić, from Serie A club Atalanta;
Frank Haise, from Ligue 1 club OGC Nice;
Ruben Amorim, from EPL club Manchester United; and
Sean Dyche, from Nottingham Forest.
Moreover, other managers had announced their resignations throughout the 2025-26 season. For example, at the turn of 2026, Enzo Maresca resigned from his managerial role at EPL club Chelsea FC. In response, the London-based club hired RC Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior was subsequently hired as Chelsea’s manager on January 8; Rosenior’s resignation at LStrasbourg prompted that club’s subsequent manager hiring of Gary O’Neil. As well, on January 12, Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid mutually parted ways following the club’s 3-2 Supercopa de España (Spanish Super Cup) final defeat against archrivals FC Barcelona.
That said, a lot of recently sacked managers remain free agents and undoubtedly have their “Open to Work” function activated on their LinkedIn profile.
