Being a manager of a football club is not an easy task. When a club performs well, the manager receives limited praise; when the club performs poorly, the manager receives the most scrutiny, oftentimes ending with the manager receiving a pink slip.
Despite being less than two months underway in the 2026-27 season in Europe, a number of managers have already been relieved of their duties. These managers include former Newcastle United (Premier League/EPL) manager Eddie Howe and ACF Fiorentina (Serie A) manager Fabio Grosso.
Elsewhere, on September 10, supporters of Turkish Süper Lig club Fenerbahce witnessed club manager Ismail Kartal resign after an underwhelming 1-1 home draw against Serie A club AS Roma in their opening match of the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League. However, the club refused to accept Kartal’s resignation and, on September 11, officially announced that Kartal would remain as manager — for now, at least.
To keep track of all manager changes, we are releasing our second in-season Sacked Managers Tracker: the 2026-27 Sacked Managers Tracker! Our tracker provides the latest data on clubs that have sacked their managers or seen managers resign since the start of the season. Our tracker includes data from the following 10 leagues:
Top five European leagues
Bundesliga (Germany);
LaLiga (Spain);
Ligue 1 (France);*
Premier League (England);** and
Serie A (Italy).
Selected European leagues ranked between sixth and 11th
Eredivisie (The Netherlands);

Super League 1 (Greece); and
Süper Lig (Türkiye).
In 2025-26, 112 managers from clubs in the 10 leagues mentioned above were either sacked or resigned. The Süper Lig had the most manager sackings and resignations throughout the season, with 25 (some clubs sacked more than one manager). Among the top five European leagues, the EPL experienced 11 managers departing via sacking or resignation.
So far, eight managers have either been sacked or have resigned since July 1, 2026. The Süper Lig leads the 10 leagues with two manager changes. Some leagues, namely Bundesliga, LaLiga and Eredivisie, have yet to experience a manager change this season.
The figure below shows the number of managers, by league, who were sacked or resigned since the start of the 2026-27 season, particularly from July 1, 2026. This tracker does not include caretaker or interim managers who were replaced by permanent managers.

*Ligue 1 also includes AS Monaco, which are based in the Principality of Monaco.
**The EPL may include a number of clubs from Wales. These clubs, which currently participate in one of the English Football League’s top four divisions, include EFL Championship clubs Swansea City and Wrexham AFC, EFL League One club Cardiff City and EFL League Two club Newport County. That said, there are no Welsh clubs competing in the EPL for the 2025-26 season.
